6:18am:  Lily wakes up and begins happily chattering to herself after sleeping for 13 straight hours. While that is her norm, she has recently been cutting some teeth and so has been not eating well or sleeping well for the past several nights.  Needless to say, we were thrilled to roll over and see that the clock read, 6:18am and to realize we had slept the entire night through once again!  Perhaps we are out of the woods!

Lily's typical morning routine is when she wakes up usually between 6 and 6:30am, Joe gets up and changes her diaper, takes off her little sleep sack, turns on her light and puts her back into her crib with some books and stuffed animals and then leaves her alone to "read."  She loves this time and happily plays with her "friends" and reads her books until 7am when we "officially" get her up to eat and start her day.  It is such a joyful time of day because we can hear her happily talking away to herself and her animals in her room.  We love to hear her little voice in there!  Plus, this allows us a few more minutes of dozing time and time to mentally prepare ourselves for our own days.

7am:  Good morning!  This is the sweet little face waiting for me when I enter her room with her morning bottle.  The sweet smiling face greeting you each morning is one of the best things in the world!  She now stands and greets us in the corner of her crib each morning when she's ready to start her day.  So cute!

9:05: chuch...

9:55am: a reverse offering...Someone donated $10,000 for the sole purpose of it being passed out to us to go and give away!  It is the coolest thing to see how people get creative with their giving.  I'm excited to see what is in my envelope...

I forgot to document Lily in her Sunday School room  She is now in the room with the crawlers.  Today was an especially great day because our friends, April and Elizabeth were her "teachers."  We LOVE them and they love Lily, so it made it easy to leave her knowing she was in such great care! I'm so sad I forgot to take a photo!

10:50am: Home from church.  She usually falls asleep on the way home from church, but today for some reason, she stayed awake...very drowsy, but awake, so we came straight home so she could eat and get to her nap.

...a delightful and much appreciated find on the back of her onesie..

11:05am: her lunchtime bottle...

11:15am: Joe has left to go get some take out brunch for me.  This has been a weekly tradition ever since we were dating. (Not the take out part, but the Sunday brunch part.  It became take out when Lily arrived...).  This is a photo of the reverse offering I received today at church.  It was a really cool thing- our church gave US money to go and give away to bless someone else this week.  Each envelope had different amounts inside...

...mine had two dollars...now its up to me to decide how to give it away and bless someone else...

11:40am: Joe returned with my brunch.  I forgot to take a photo, but I had a grilled cheese and tomato basil soup with a side of fruit.  Joe stayed with me for a little while before leaving for a 'thank you' lunch that was being hosted in honor of a committee he was on at church.  While Lily napped, I spent some time reading some blogs, working on the 6month old Week in the Life and cleaning up the kitchen.

1:15pm: Lily woke up.  Her little face just melts my heart every time I go into her room to get her...

1:30pm- diaper has been changed.  Lately Lily has become the wiggliest worm on the changing table.  She can roll over onto her belly lightening quick and is trying to escape off the edge of her changing table in a flash.  She has no concept of falling or of being close to the edge and it is super tricky to get her changed these days.  This cast of characters help keep her entertained while we try and change her.  All of them are necessary and sometimes her shoes, my lip gloss, some physical restraints, a clean diaper, a burp cloth and singing are utilized as well- she likes to throw them over the edge after a few seconds time....needless to say 100% focus is required!

a smiling girl holding my lip gloss proudly sitting on her changing table....

1:33pm: I put Lily down while I was picking up all of her toys she had thrown from her changing table, and in the blink of an eye, she was out of her room and around the corner into the office (which lately with Lily's curiosity and quickness has become a glorified storage room)...not a place I want her to go, which naturally makes it the first place she heads when she sees I have left the door open...

I called her back into her room and she is thankfully still willing to come when I call her!  So we decided to play a little bit in her room for a few minutes...

...checking out her toy basket...

...getting some books to read...

...she really enjoys 'cause and effect' these days...throwing things, dropping things, knocking them down, making noises....lots of fun...

...she also likes to crawl and carry things while she crawls around.  It's very cute to see what she chooses to carry around with her.  This time, it was her owl book...

Lately Lily has been noticing things in her room and pointing to them with an open hand...we have this little bulletin board in her room that we have filled with pictures of her and she LOVES to look at it and point to the pictures when we are in her room....

She also loves to look at the shelf above her changing table.  She REALLY likes the little stuffed cat that is perched up there.  Sadly it is a bean bag that leaks its beans (we cannot find where the leak is coming from!) So Fancy the cat has to stay up on the shelf.  So we spend a lot of time pointing to and looking at items on her shelf.  She also likes to point at her ceiling fan and moon that is on her wall.

1:45pm: Lunch time!  Lily is really getting good with her finger foods.  She usually has some "appetizers" of cheerios, peas and cheese while I get her lunch ready.

...a glimpse of the kitchen while I was making her lunch...I'm uploading photos for the Week in the Life 6 months at this time...uploading photos takes forever....

...a glimpse of the counter....

...Lily only drinks her "bottles" out of sippy cups.  A few weeks back, we spent several days trying to figure out that she was finished with bottles.  She just refused to drink from them any longer.  She only wanted sippy cups, we think because of the faster flow.  So we hold them for her like a bottle and she gulps away.  However, when she is the one holding her own sippy, she generally tends to have it down and not quite grasp that you need to tip it upwards so that she can get the juice inside.  Whenever we try and help her, she typically snatches it back down and likes to do it her way.  She also enjoys banging her cup around and drop it on the floor as well.

...a tasty meal of tofu mixed with some tahini and peas, cottage cheese with pineapple mixed in and some applesauce for dessert...

2:25pm:  Play time!   We have barricaded our front room so that it is very Lily-friendly.  She has full reign of the living room, entry way and hallway (with all doors closed).  One of her favorite things to do is to crawl around behind our recliner and go underneath the side table.  It is a little pathway that is just her size and she loves crawling back and forth under the little table.  It is so cute.

...she is busy pulling up on everything these days...she loves exploring and checking out her environment.  She is excellent at noticing even the smallest change or addition...its amazing....

....this little board is the barrier between the front room and the kitchen.  I just am not ready for Lily to be all over our kitchen, so we keep this little board up.  So far it has worked, but we are very aware that our days are numbered as she loves to pull up on the board and drop her toys over the side and try and reach them...There has even been a time where she got over the board but I did not see her do this..she just suddenly appeared in the kitchen with me! So...today, Joe is out to find a new solution to keeping Lily out of the kitchen.  It is difficult though because we have a very wide doorway....

...pulling up on the board...

...dropping her toy (ie a washcloth) over to the other side....

...pondering how to get it....

...giving her best effort and actually ended up falling over onto our ceramic tile floor!  POOR LILY!  Bad mom was taking photos thinking all was going to be okay...when bonk! She was fine- just a few stunned tears and was instantly scooped up and snuggled by me.  I felt HORRIBLE and called Joe to say that today had to be the day to find the new solution.  Lucky for us, he already had the solution in the back of the car.  No more board...

3:15pm:  After recovering from her bonk, I brought Lily into the kitchen to be with me while I unloaded the dishwasher and cleaned up the kitchen.  She loves her exersaucer.

3:25pm: Watching dad set up the new gate....  we ended up needing the board to stabilize the gate in our extra wide doorway...

...not the most aesthetically pleasing, but it works!

3:45pm: We loaded up Lily for a walk to a nearby park.  We are lucky to live near a really nice park that is within walking distance through a darling neighborhood...

...oh how our sweet girl loves to swing....

...some of our friends live nearby this little park and we saw them walking their dog, Angus.  Lily loved seeing Angus and was chatting away to him in a very excited, high pitched voice...  We don't let her get near many dogs...just look at them.  Which thankfully, she thinks is just as great.

4:40pm: Back home.  On his shopping trip for the gate, he found Lily some new letters to play with.  This is a shot of him washing them getting them all clean for Lily.

..meanwhile in the living room, Lily was crawling all over the place....

...the letters were a HUGE hit.  She loves to hold them, chew them and shake them!

Lily loves to play and especially loves this little music table....

...very busy...

4:55pm: I made some brownies.  I was in charge of bringing a dessert to the Oscar party tonight.  I'm SUPER sad that I will not be getting to have any!

5:10pm: Brownies are in the oven and I find Joe and Lily playing in her room.  She loves to clap her hands together and clap for herself....

...standing tall...

..."pointing" up to her ceiling fan...

5:15pm: bath time!

...oh, she loves her baths...

...our squeaky clean bunny!

5:35pm: After her bath, we gave Lily her bottle and she went right to bed.

....6:30pm:  The Annual Oscar Party!  Here is the traveling red carpet!  This year it is leading to Enid's basement where the watch party will be....  So fun!

For almost a decade now, my friend, Amy, my mom and our friend Enid get together to watch the Golden Globes and Oscars together.  We love to watch the red carpet, fill out ballots and talk about all of the movie stars.  It is so much fun and we always look forward to these fun parties every year.  This year, Enid hosted the Oscar party....

...watching a little bit of E! Entertainment television's critique of the red carpet.... I love to see all of the beautiful dresses and the celebs...LOVE IT!

Here is a photo of our ballot and the movie quiz my mom put together.  It was so much fun to vote and take the quiz...

6:55pm:  Trying to fill out our ballots before the big show begins...

The big show begins...

...the quiz...

this year's best picture was 'The Artist'  I wanted 'The Help' to win.  It is still the best picture in my opinion!  It was a fun evening.

10:55pm:  I got home and fell into bed!

Thoughts for the day:
Love weekends where Joe is home with us.
I love seeing Joe and Lily playing together...her face just lights up when he is around
It is hard to get back into the rhythm of taking photos all of the time again
I think Billy Crystal should be the permanent Oscar host
Lily moves fast and it is difficult to capture her well when the lighting is not always the best
Things seemed to flow smoothly with Lily going right down for her nap today without sleeping in the car after church

Gratitude:
Quiet, alone time in the house for a little while today
having Joe home with us
a beautiful day outside
generous people who make a reverse offering possible
happy splashes in the bathtub
a new gate for the kitchen doorway
grateful to Joe to staying home with Lily so I could go to the Oscar party
nice to have help with Lily
so thankful for all of the ounces that Lily drank today- finally!

Numbers:
Number of ounces Lily drank today:19 (really good!)
Number of diapers: 8
Number of minutes spent swinging: 23
Number I missed on the Oscar quiz: 4
Number of teeth Lily currently has: 3
Number of times Lily woke up last night: 0 (this is typical)
Number of hours Lily slept last night: 13
Number of naps taken by Lily:1

My favorite shot of the day:

  1. What an awesome post! And I love what your church is doing with random dollar amounts to bless someone - I hope you post about how you used the $2. I'm not very creative, but I would likely buy a cup of coffee for someone :)
