The simple clasp of anothers hand can convey affection, love, help, comfort, safety, closeness, connection, stability...and the all important heart message of 'You are not alone in this world.  I'm right here beside you.'  Sometimes in life, you don't want to hold hands at all, or you want to keep holding hands for hours, while other times you need it only for a moment.  Its truly simple, yet so, so special.
